Call for Art - Annual Youth Show

PURPLE DOOR GALLERY’S 4TH ANNUAL YOUTH SHOW

LITTLE WORLDS

Our Annual Youth Show is one of our favorite exhibitions of the year — a reminder that you’re never too young to do big things, and you’re never too old to be inspired to create.

SEBO WALKER is a professional skater and artist, but to me he’s best known as a tireless champion of youthful creativity. As a father of two, and a camp councilor to many more, Sebo frequently talks about this love for the way children of all ages see the world: full of color, play, curiosity, and emotion. “Having kids has been the greatest joy of my life. Their view of the world is joyful and alive. Through art, music, running wild, and the simple things that ignite their curiosity, they express a boundless zest for life that inspires me. My goal is to nurture a small piece of that creative freedom and help protect that spark with this collaborative show.”

This annual exhibit of kids’ art at the Purple Door began with his idea, and it has been an honor to bring that vision to life year after year—each time a little bigger, a little better.

This year, for the first time, the show has a theme: LITTLE WORLDS.

Imagine a different world, a wackier world, a safer world, a dream world, or simply a little piece of this world that you love. What would your world look like if you could make the rules?

Young artists will have the opportunity to exhibit their work alongside professional artist and skater Sebo Walker, known for his large abstract paintings. This year, we’ve also invited the talented Nathan Paul Rice to showcase his playful wooden sculptures!
