The Improbable stillness of Noticing

Chloé Bren is a Utah-born artist who has called Portland home for nearly a decade. Her artistic journey began with creating pet portraits as holiday gifts, which quickly turned into commissioned work and a deeper passion for making art. Primarily self-taught in watercolor, she has since explored a variety of mediums, with a current focus on colored pencils and pastels for their rich colors and textures. Deeply inspired by nature, her work often highlights the beauty of animals, plants, and landscapes. Her dog, Alfie, is not only her constant companion but also a frequent muse in her artwork.

Just a few weeks back, Chloé was diagnosed with breast cancer. While this news rocked her and her community, she remains determined and ready to face the challenges ahead. Much like the botanicals that inspire her stunning artwork, this show embodies repose, resilience, and the courage to boldly blossom with strength, even in the face of uncertainty. We stand in support of Chloé as she moves through this season of change, knowing she will emerge stronger than ever.
